Tuition Fees challenges as One enters Post-secondary
The characters involved in this issue are: high school graduates, parents of the graduates, and the loan collection agent.
One’s graduation is memorable and an excellent accomplishment that one has achieved over the 4 years of hardwork, exams, events, and effort. In this political cartoon, when one of the graduates’ parent asked the person indicated as the student debt collector (due to the suitcase), which child was his, he claimed with a menacing look that all the graduates are his. This claim implies that these students who will be moving onto post-secondary are expected to repay the immense loans which they have borrowed for university/college as the debt agent will be ready to recollect them. At the same time, this cartoon can also signify that parents are not fully aware of the future student debts for their children as the parent in the cartoon seemed a bit oblivious to the person sitting beside her.
